From the very beginning,
Eucharist was integral to the life of each Felician
Sister. Originally for the Felicians, Eucharist was not understood as
Eucharistic living but as Eucharistic adoration and participation in the
Holy Sacrifice of Mass. This was the theology of the times and while true,
did not reflect the fullness of understanding that has evolved. The Eucharist
was - and is - the center of Felician consecration. Felicians participate
in the Eucharist and share in the celebration of the sacred mysteries
of Christ's life, death and resurrection. As Catholic religious women,
we believe in the Eucharist as an encounter with Jesus Christ as one that
forms and shapes us personally and communally. We are well aware of the
real and nourishing Eucharistic presence of Jesus in the lives of Felicians,
nourishing us and transforming us for our journey.
We believe that Communion
creates our community. Christ, living in us, brings us together in a most
profound way. Yet, with many current spiritual masters of the day, we
also believe that Communion is not the end - mission is! Communion is
not the final moment of the Eucharistic life. We need to move from there
and go and tell, proclaim what we have seen, heard and experienced within
our hearts.
